Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery: Self - Paced  (BCDR0001)

Description

This module is designed to provide a basic understanding of Business Continuity (BC) and Disaster Recovery (DR) which are closely related strategies aimed at ensuring that an organization can continue its critical operations during and after disruptive events, such as natural disasters, cyberattacks, or equipment failures. This module is part of the overarching Introduction to Cybersecurity program

Business Continuity focuses on maintaining essential business functions during a disruption. It involves identifying critical processes and resources, assessing risks, and developing plans to ensure that key operations remain functional despite interruptions. BC planning emphasizes proactive measures to reduce downtime, safeguard assets, and ensure the continuity of services for customers and stakeholders.

Disaster Recovery, on the other hand, specifically refers to the technical recovery of IT infrastructure, data, and systems after a disaster. DR plans outline steps for restoring hardware, software, data, and networks to resume normal operations as quickly as possible. It typically includes backup systems, data replication, and off-site storage of critical information.

Together, BC and DR strategies are essential for organizational resilience, minimizing the financial and operational impact of unexpected events, and ensuring long-term stability. A well-prepared BC/DR plan ensures that businesses can quickly recover from disruptions and continue delivering value to their customers.
